CLIL                     The Universe before Galileo

This is a recap (Final Project Activity) of the #REAaicle_INTEF on line course I have been dealing with for two months now.
The CLIL sequence was designed as part of an intesdisciplinary unit called "Galileo galilei".The idea began when a group of teachers from my school (IES Galileo) realized that our students did not know much about this scientist.

The sequence fits in the the Natural Science area for 1st graders (secondary). The objectives are focused on these ideas: know and recognize Galileo´s contributions to Science. The tasks are designed to activate cognitive process such as analyse, decide, argue and hopefully create. I have decided that the students will work following a team-work methodology (cooperative learning) in order to produce two oral presentations, a debate, an experiment and an infographic. So many products look overwhelming but it is also a way for them to learn to manage time and organising themselves (key competence: autonomía e iniciativa personal).

We will start the unit with some Pre-Task warm-up activities (working in pairs, individual)  that will be used to introduce the vocabulary  and activate the previous ideas they have about the topic.
The second step will be to work in teams gathering information related to Galileo. The students will have a list of links ( available in a webmix on Symbaloo). These are some key activities that the students will do during the lessons (here).

As a guideline for the final product the students will use a rubric that will be also used to grade their classmates. They will also do a selfassessment to check their progress.

I hope this sequence works in the classrooms.I appreciate your comments and feedback.
As soon as I finish I will post the products and the unit assessment here.
Nice journey that comes to...
